Hollow Eyes

Her eyes just stared out,
Hollow and glazed,
Her innocence gone,
She sat in a daze.

Little brother he cried,
As he clung to her arms.
Scared and alone,
I felt their alarm.

Reached out with my heart,
Did the best I knew how,
But I could not erase,
The pain they felt now.

I’ve traveled the world,
Stared death in the face.
But those two little souls,
Took me to a new place.

How could this happen?
How could it be?
My anger it swelled,
Could clearly be seen.

For it was only a few,
That momy stayed for.
But the car lost control,
They were almost no more.

It’s one thing to drink,
Tis another to drive.
But the worst sin of all,
Is to hurt other lives.

If the drinks they must flow,
Don’t let reason depart.
Whether you or a friend,
Don’t let the car start.

A few moments of fun,
Is not worth the price.
That in one fatal second,
You cut short a life.

Don’t fill with false pride,
And say “I’m just fine.”
Be a hero instead,
“Need a ride, would you mind?”
