Humor me for a moment. Make an honest effort to read and comprehend the call-out below:

SEC. 201. RETURNING HEROES AND WOUNDED WARRIORS WORK OPPORTUNITY TAX CREDITS.

(a) IN GENERAL. —Paragraph (3) of section 51(b) of the Internal Revenue Code is amended by striking “($12,000 per year in the case of any individual who is a qualified veteran by reason of subsection (d)(3)(A)(ii))” and inserting “($12,000 per year in the case of any individual who is a qualified veteran by reason of subsection (d)(3)(A)(ii)(I), $14,000 per year in the case of any individual who is a qualified veteran by reason of subsection (d)(3)(A)(iv), and $24,000 per year in the case of any individual who is a qualified veteran by reason of subsection (d)(3)(A)(ii)(II))”.

(b) RETURNING HEROES TAX CREDITS. —section 51(d)(3)(A) of the Internal Revenue Code is amended by striking “or” at the end of paragraph (3)(A)(i), and inserting the following new paragraphs after paragraph (ii)—

(iii) having aggregate periods of unemployment during the 1-year period ending on the hiring date which equal or exceed 4 weeks (but less than 6 months), or

(iv) having aggregate periods of unemployment during the 1-year period ending on the hiring date which equal or exceed 6 months.”

(c) SIMPLIFIED CERTIFICATION. —Section 51(d) of the Internal revenue Code is amended by adding a new paragraph 15 as follows—

(15) Credit allowed for unemployed veterans.

(A) In general. Any qualified veteran under paragraphs (3)(A)(ii)(II), (3)(A)(iii), and (3)(A)(iv) will be treated as certified by the designated local agency as having aggregate periods of unemployment if—

(i) In the case of qualified veterans under paragraphs (3)(A)(ii)(II) and (3)(A)(iv), the veteran is certified by the designated local agency as being in receipt of unemployment compensation under State or Federal law for not less than 6 months during the 1-year period ending on the hiring date; or

(ii) In the case of a qualified veteran under paragraph (3)(A)(iii), the veteran is certified by the designated local agency as being in receipt of unemployment compensation under State or Federal law for not less than 4 weeks (but less than 6 months) during the 1-year period ending on the hiring date.

(B) Regulatory Authority. The Secretary in his discretion may provide alternative methods for certification.”.

The above is but just one section of Dear Leader Obama’s “American Jobs Act” as presented to Congress Monday.

But the so called “American Jobs Act” is not only anything but, it is the largest piece of government garbage to come out of the White House since it’s father “Stimulus I” was born during the last special interest orgy held in the Oval Office.

Anyone else find more than a bit of irony in the “simplified certification” section?

Anyone else find such language and obfuscation a perfect example of the disaster that has become Washington D.C.?

Anyone still question the main reason for the “shellacking” given Democrats last November? (And don’t forget the recent results in New York 9, where even the staunchest of Democrat districts said enough is enough and sent a Republican to Congress.)

From selling guns to Mexican cartels, to Solyndra, to dictating where private companies can build plants and making farmers document to the ounce how much their pigs crap in a week, the federal government under Obama and his EPA, DOE, and NLRB bureaucratic goons is so out of control it has truly become a larger threat to this great nation than any terrorist could ever dream of.

The most important aspect of our prosperity and security has always been that most envied around the world, the great American private sector.

From mom and pop shops, to start up entrepreneurs, to multi-national corporations, it has been the engine that cranked out the jobs and provided the wages and taxes to pull us out of cyclical downturns.

Yet now when we need it most, it is under attack from a liberal ideologue hell-bent on implementing as much of the left agenda as possible before he’s ran out on a rail in 2012.

Is it any wonder then why this economy is still not recovering? It’s certainly not because it doesn’t want to, it’s because it can’t. It‘s being smothered by page, after page, after page of legislation and regulation from every government orifice Obama can get his hands on.

For a week now Dear Leader has been shouting from his podium for Americans to contact Congress to “pass this bill and pass it now”.

For once, TheCorner agrees with the President.

Americans should contact Congress, they should let there wishes be known……and they should tell Congress it should most certainly pass Obama’s jobs bill…..and they should pass it right away……..pass it right into the trash can that is.

Or, perhaps it should be the recycle bin instead.

Considering there isn’t one thing new or innovative in the entire pile of retreaded ideology, recycling would be the more appropriate and environmentally friendly course now wouldn’t it?

If your appointment to have your fingernails pulled has been postponed, follow this WSJ.com link and read the entire morass. It will hurt more than pulling your nails but hey, no pain, no gain.

    Geoff,

The above garbage, bureaucratic BS, is symptomatic of any government, regardless of political inclinations.

Start with an idea, good one or bad one making no difference. Then put it into language written by lawyers to cover every conceivable loophold. Then give it to 435 Congressmen to pass or vote down. How many actually read that crap? Nope they turn it over the a staffer to par it down to make sense.

Then they vote depending really on whether or not they like the original idea given in a speech or an executive summary or how much lobbyists denonate to their campaign.

After passage the new law is turned over to, yet another bureucracy with Lord only knows how many lawyers, to write “regulatory” rules.

That then passes down to businesses with Lord only knows how many lawyers paid to find the loopholes missed by the original lawyers writting the legislation in the first place.

Now what is wrong with that picture?

First, is government trying to do something which the fundamental law of the land does not allow or specify for government to do. How many lawyers does it take to litigate that argument and how long does it take?

My copy of the Constitution consists of about 80 pages. Wonder how long it would be if we tried to write one today, a Constitution?

How about this for say a Clean Air Act:

“No emissions to the atmosphere from any source (or just say automobile) many contain more than (then list the chemical or particle size and the quanity allowed)”

Nope that won’t work. The time for lawyers to figure out the “rule” would only be an hour or so and they like to bill in terms of “centuries” of time spent resolving a “difficult” problem.

You are not really just critiquing Obama. All politicians do the above regardless of how “good” their original idea might be!!

Agree on the all politicians part. The jobs act just is the current topic which caught my eye.
You’re right on with the Clean Air Act comment. I would add that another part of the problem is the EPA itself is CHANGING those rules and ratcheting them down so tight they no longer have a positive cost to benefit ratio. (Unless of course your “benefit” is only looked at through the prizm of the far left agenda.)
What’s getting very little coverage regarding this so called “jobs” bill is that it also creates more government. (At least TWO new agencies so far and I haven’t finished reading it yet!)
The good news is that for all his talking, yelling and screaming about how bad Congress is this past week for not passing his bill “right away”, the latest Gallup tracking poll shows his approval actually going DOWN. (See latest Corner column on said topic.)
As always, thanks for commenting. How’s things over in the EC world of unicorns and daisies? lol
