Southern Poverty Law Center’s ‘hate report’ inspires L.A. Times ‘hate speech’ editorial on ‘patriot’ terrorists

According to the Southern Poverty Law Center’s latest ‘hate’ report and the L.A. Times editorial board, Americans now have as much to fear from ‘patriot’ terrorists as we do Al Qaeda.  If using ‘hate speech’ to promote a report on ‘hate’ was a Pulitzer Prize category, the Times would be a shoe in this year.

It came across my twitter feed in the dark of night but lit up every “you’ve got to be kidding me” light in my brain from that moment on.

“It” was from one Leigh Tauber@LeighTauber and it read simply:

And this isn’t bigoted hate speech? It’s in the LA Times for god’s sake. Peril from ‘patriots’ http://lat.ms/W9Z0Z7

Seeing the LA Times and bigoted hate speech in the same sentence is not unusual considering said paper’s 60 degree list to the left, but the “Peril from ‘patriots’” definitely piqued my curiosity.

Curiosity that turned to disgust before finishing even the first two paragraphs of one of the most outlandish pieces of editorial garbage ever to be laid down in print.

It is common knowledge that the most recent attempts of terrorism against the U.S. has come from those recruited right here at home so the tag line “The U.S. needs to keep a close watch on the growing threat of home-grown extremist groups” seemed reasonable enough.

It’s the headline that cries out “reason” is about to be thrown to the wind.

With three words, Peril from ‘patriots’ the Times editorial board begins a paranoid rant of epic proportion:

There are, in increasingly frightening numbers, cells of angry men in the United States preparing for combat with the U.S. government. They are usually heavily armed, blinded by an intractable hatred, often motivated by religious zeal.

They’re not jihadists. They are white, right-wing Americans, nearly all with an obsessive attachment to guns, who may represent a greater danger to the lives of American civilians than international terrorists.

Detect a pattern? Angry, white, right-wing males obsessed with guns type of pattern?

Editorials, by definition are supposed to be opinionated. But if those ‘opinions’ are to be credible with the audience for which they are written they must be supported by at least a modicum of reason and fact.

The four words that open the third paragraph, “The Southern Poverty Law Center”, lets anyone with a brain know that this particular editorial is not one bit concerned with reason or fact.

The Times uses the SPLC’s latest (and dubious) “The Year in Hate and Extremism” report to base an entire editorial around the idea that it’s no longer Al Qaeda we need to fear but rather too many “Bubba’s with Bullets” that are the real threat to America.

The Times cites SPLC numbers showing a sharp rise in “patriot groups” from 2008 and 2009 to 2012 but conveniently leaves out that the SPLC changed it’s own definition of “hate groups” which now just bundles all groups it chooses under the one label resulting in inflated numbers and paints a more false than true picture. Such “evolving” on it’s methodology and definitions gives even the “Granny Warriors” of North Carolina the distinction of being on SPLC’s patriots hate list. (Jordan Bloom’s “Souther Poverty Law Center Inflates ‘Domestic Terrorism’” over at themericanconservative.com lays out an excellent summary of the SPLC’s deception.)

But the editorial board isn’t satisfied just mimicking a left wing “study” to bash those that do not adhere to the party line, they proudly cock their noses even higher than the normal 45 degrees up and close with:

What can be done to reverse this tide of belligerent ignorance? Not much. The typical patriot acts within his free-speech and 2nd Amendment rights, and in fact most patriot activity consists of venting steam by meeting with like-minded Neanderthals and firing off blog posts threatening civil war. Yet such blather tends to get under the skin of the Timothy McVeighs of the world. These groups should be closely monitored, with resources adequate to the task, even if it means shifting some homeland security money from the hunt for foreign terrorists.

Throwing in McVeigh was a nice touch. When all else fails pull out the one nut job everyone can agree was walking evil and then propagate the fear to the masses that if those belligerent, ignorant, Neanderthals aren’t stopped there will most certainly be another Oklahoma City.

But just in case you hadn’t picked up on the left wing b.s. in the body of the edit, that last line says it all: “these groups should be closely monitored…..”

Law abiding, concerned, American citizens who see their own government undermining the Constitution and the freedoms of future generations, and are doing nothing more than exercising their rights under that same Constitution are, according to the LA Times editorial board, a “threat” and need to be monitored and hunted with the same priority as a foreign terrorist.

No, LA Times, the danger is not the “patriot” groups but with far left groups like the SPLC being given “mainstream” status and promoted as legitimate by you and yours.

How many times has “right wing extremist” or “Tea Part radical” been used in a shooting headline as a possible “cause” only to be proven false?

Yet when a REAL “left wing extremist” like Floyd Corkins II carries out a terrorist attack against the Family Research Council and admits using the Southern Poverty Law Center’s own “hate” map in planning his attack the silence is deafening.

Is not the greater threat to America a “press” that pushes an agenda rather than promoting the truth?

A “press” that will pull out all the stops to push a narrative of “right wing” this and “Tea Party radical” that but completely ignore the fact that the majority of all mass killings in this country has come not from the right, but from the very “left” that it protects.

A “press” that pats itself on the back for uncovering the “shocking” details of Mitt Romney and the family dog but can’t find one survivor of the Benghazi attack or produce one professor who can remember what grade he gave Obama in college?

Such a “press” is a disgrace to the very ideals and foundational principles enshrined in the document that gave it birth, the Bill of Rights.

To use that first right of unabridged freedom of the press to promote hate speech in an attempt to silence those exercising their right to “petition the Government for a redress of grievances” goes beyond mere hypocrisy and into a depravity that knows no depth.

While the establishment cliques find such “journalism” worthy of praise, those that are the “targets” of such cowardly rants find it worthy of nothing more than the scorn that it so “rightfully” deserves.

BUT, believe it or not, there is actually good news to report as well. The opening image of this column is a screen shot of that LA Times page taken eleven days post publication on the morning of March 19, 2013 and highlights the “Your Take” question: “Should we worry about the “patriot” groups?

Notice the results and be proud of yourselves America. Even in the bowels of liberalsim that is the LA Times website, the answer to its ridiculous rant and pathetic attempt to garner hate against “patriot groups”, 95 percent of repondents bascially told the Time’s to shove it.

Out of almost 7,800 votes cast, 7,396 had the common sense to know that “NO” it is not “patriot” groups we need to be worrying about.

Perhaps, just perhaps, there’s hope for this country after all.

Well, the SPLC even admits that it is… how did they put it? I’m paraphrasing, but they “aren’t equipped to monitor hatred from the left”. They only look for imagined hatred from the right, which means “anyone who doesn’t share their world view”.

And really, that’s what this whole thing is about. Anyone who doesn’t share the world view of the left is, by definition, a “patriot terrorist”. Don’t agree with gay marriage, even if you think civil unions are fine but the term “marriage” should be reserved for religious institutions? Patriot Terrorist! Think someone might have to do something other than be born here to earn their government paycheck? Patriot Terrorist! Disagree with Marco Rubio and Rand Paul that we should reward those who broke the law to sneak in here, that we should give free tuition to those who broke the laws to get here while punishing those who grew up here? PATRIOT TERRORIST! Freakin’ right-wing Nazis! (A contradiction that no leftist will ever, ever admit).

The true threat to our way of life comes from the left, and they (the press) know this. But they also know they control thought from the useful idiots, so what they say becomes de facto law. So if they say the right is populated by fools and terrorists, then it is so.

It all comes back to the “tolerance” of the left. There is none, in fact. They will “tolerate” anything — sodomy in the street, bestiality, attacks on Christians, whatever — except disagreement with their positions. They are the quintessential hypocrites. Anything goes… except disagreeing that anything goes. They fear the word “no” more than death itself. Aw, who am I preaching to here? You know that, anyone reading you knows that, even the lefties who sneak in here to find something to whine about know it. They just pretend it doesn’t happen, and giggle when we let them know we’re on to them.

So, sad is it is to say, this article is 100% correct, and 99.99% useless. Those who feel that it strikes too closely to home will denigrate you and the article (for writing it and for having been written, because what’s the difference in their eyes?) Those who agree already know this. But then again, the .01% you reach might also reach others, and that’s how we eventually chip away at the childish bullshit that is the modern leftist. We’ll not take them chunks at a time, but bit by bit, as people (like Bill freakin’ Maher!) stat to whine about their taxes, etc. Eventually the bloodsucking leeches like postal pension boy and his clueless, brainless, useless wastes of oxygen sycophants will die out, and those with brains will regain control. Perhaps they’ll have tidbits like this to look back on to guide them. Is it reaching to think that a blog post might guide history? Probably. But it beats having the future read any of the “THE WORLD OWES YOU BECAUSE YOU WERE BORN” bullshit that that other blog puts out, unless it’s part of a “now you see why we failed as a nation” class.

Yeah, not up to my usual, but I’m tired and pissy and sick of the (insert favorite reference to female genitalia here) whiny leftists around here. I’ll do better later, I promise. Hey, I’m not getting paid! Well until you put my name out there to some paying group… 🙂

The day this thing starts paying me is the day before you start getting paid! lol And for the record, even your “not up to usual” is better than most and beyond compare to the circle jerk confabs so no needs to worry.
If I didn’t know better I’d say you’ve been talking to my wife regarding the 99.99% useless.
I’m working on a follow up to this post highlighting some of those “hate” groups on that SPLC map. I’ve already found a couple of churches (no, not the Westboro Baptist kind) and sure I’ll find more.
It truly is as you say. The tolerance is only tolerated as long as the view fits the political agenda.
Glad ot hear from you again, hang in there and don’t be a stranger.
