Friday Follies: Dems lay “carpet of corruption” from sea to shining sea – Harry Reid, Leland Yee lead the way

Remember back in 2006 when Nancy Pelosi and the democrats along with their buds and babes in media land decided to paint the Republicans as fostering a “culture of corruption”?

This week’s Follies highlights that behind the camera’s the dems apparently have been laying a “carpet of corruption” from sea to shining sea. From Rhode Island, to New York, to San Francisco, one Democrat politican after another these past few days was paid a visit by federal agents.

No need to put the traditional R, I or D behind the names in this week’s Follies, as each and everyone is a member of that Obama, Reid, Pelosi ran club known as the Democrat party.

Tis that time once again when we take stock of the inane and foolish put upon us by those forced to navigate life with an amount of gray matter just slightly larger than that found in your average toad.”

#5 After both his home and office were raided by agents from numerous federal agencies last Friday Rhode Island Speaker of the House, Gordon Fox resigned as speaker and informed voters that he would not be seeking re-election. (Even with all this great technology we have today, it’s still rather hard to run for re-election from a prison cell.)

#4 New York Assemblyman William Scarborough also had his offices raided by the FBI. The essence of that investigation appears to be per diem hanky panky of some sort. He has declared his innocence and stated he had no idea what was going on and was just “stunned”. (He may very well be stunned. Dems never quite seem to get that the laws apply to them as well.)

#3 Charlotte, NC Mayor Patrick Cannon was charged with taking bribes in exchange for using his position and has resigned. Seems he’d been in the sights of the FBI since an undercover agent first approached Cannon back in November, 2010. And in the great tradition of idiot political corruption schemes it appears that back in December 2012, Cannon tried to get the undercover agent to “invest” in a new business venture he called HERS. According to the observer story, HERS was going to sell feminine hygiene products on a national scale. (You really CAN’T make this stuff up, can you?)

#2 The only reason this one isn’t number 1 is well, when you have Harry Reid involved can ANYONE really be worse? In an American Hustle type sting operation, California state Senator Leland Yee was arrested for trading official acts for cash and working with an undercover agent to purchase illegal guns.

The sanfranciso.cbs.local story states:

The federal complaint was filed March 24 and unsealed Wednesday alleges Sen. Yee was engaged in soliciting illegal campaign donations in exchange for political favors and was involved in a conspiracy to traffic firearms from Russia.

Too bad Lee’s going to be tied up in court these next few months. Obama could have used his contacts to help out with that whole Ukrainian debacle he’s gotten himself into.

The hypocrisy in Lee is karma at it’s best. He has been one of the most radical and vocal gun control zealots in the state and to now see an arrest warrant showing that he actually transpired to put assault weapons into the hands of gang members? Priceless

#1 And the number one layer of correctable carpet this week is none other than that most despicable, most hypocritical, most absolutely weaselliest of weaselly politicians: Senate Majority Leader, Harry Reid, Democrat from the “this is what happens when your state gets over-run with illegal immigration” state of Las Vegas.

Seemingly not happy with amassing his own personal fortune on insider information and political favors, we learned this week that Reid decided to use the same formula to give a little help to his family as well. Specifically his granddaughter Ryan Elisabeth Reid.

The Las Vegas Review Journal reports:

The issue came to light after the Federal Election Commission flagged the expenses in a letter last week and asked Reid’s campaign organization, Friends for Harry Reid, to explain them.

In its year-end finance report, the Reid campaign reported spending $5,416.93 on “holiday gifts,” paid to Ryan Elisabeth of Berkeley, Calif., on Oct. 7. Another $11,370 was reported spent on Oct. 23.

Reid’s office confirmed on Tuesday that Ryan Elisabeth was Ryan Elisabeth Reid, the 23-year-old daughter of the senator’s oldest son, Rory Reid, former chairman of the Clark County Commission.

Disgust aside, Nevadans do get the satisfaction of knowing that at least Reid’s keeping his corruption all in the family.

Reid’s response was of course as dismissive as ever:

I thought it would be nice to give supporters and staff thank-you gifts that had a personal connection and a Searchlight connection, but I have decided to reimburse the campaign for the amount of the expenditure,” Reid said in a statement. He told reporters he would not comment further.

It may have been nice Harry, but using campaign funds to do it is as illegal for you as for anyone else.

But of course, Reid will just write a check from his “personal” (taxpayer funded) account and all will be forgiven.

I don’t know Senate history as well as I should. I’m sure that in over 200 years we’ve had our share of bad ones.

But no matter how bad the past, with his out right lies about the Koch Brother’s, his contemptible behavior towards millions of Americans hurt by his back room birthed Obamacare, and his “rags to taxpayer provided riches” financial history, Harry Reid is, without a doubt, the absolute worst United States Senator to have ever held the office. (And consdering his party also gave us the likes of Teddy “Chappaquiddick” Kennedy, and Robert KKK Byrd that’s a pretty big title.)

As always, thanks for reading, have a great weekend and I’ll see ya round the corner.
