Friday Follies: Grimes/Orman’s fake independence, Paltrow’s Obamagasm, Lincoln’s “purple penguins” and a Dem Nazi defender

October 10, 2014
By

Grimes and Orman’s fake ‘independence’, Paltrow’s Obamagasm, Lincoln schools no longer want boys and girls, and a Dem Nazi defender: ”Tis that time once again when we take stock of the inane and foolish put upon us by those forced to navigate life with an amount of gray matter just slightly larger than that found in your average toad.”

#5  Orman to raise money in Boston with former House check bouncer  From the Washington Examiner:

He’s belittled Washington’s ways during his campaign to beat long-serving Kansas Sen. Pat Roberts, but independent Greg Orman will look like a card-carrying member of the club when he travels to Boston this month for a fundraiser hosted by a former congressman run out of town for bouncing checks.

Former Democratic Rep. Chester Atkins and his wife, terrorism expert Jessica Stern, are hosting the Oct. 22 “Boston Dinner Benefit” at their Cambridge, Mass., home……….

………..A co-host, Bob Glovsky, was appointed by President Obama earlier this year to the President’s Advisory Council on Financial Capability for Young Americans.

Atkins was tied to the House check-kiting scandal and lost to another Democrat in 1992.

Orman has been evasive in his campaign, not even saying which party he would caucus with, though his fundraising with Democrats is likely a good sign he will team with them if elected.

I may live in Missouri now, but the majority of my life was spent living in the Ad Astra per Aspera state of Kansas.  And no matter how far ahead early polling may have shown Orman leading Pat Roberts I just can’t bring myself to believe that come November 4th, Kansas’ collective political conscience will allow a snake like Orman to be their next United States Senator.

Sure, we’ve got our loons in Lawrence and our urban clusters of ignorance and “I want my free stuff”, but overall, common sense and honor still prevails in my home state.  (Which is why I also predict that Republican Sam Brownback will lose the governorship.  Not that his Democrat opponent Paul Davis is that great, but because Brownback has proven himself so terrible.  Sam Brownback has done more to hurt the conservative cause in Kansas than any I’ve seen.  Between the arrogance and the incompetence he is the flipside of Obama and he certainly doesn’t deserve re-election.)

But back to Orman the so called “independent”.  He previously ran as a Democrat, has donated thousands to Barack Obama and Harry Reid, and is only in the spotlight now because Democrat operatives like Claire McCaskill got the openly Democrat candidate, Chad Taylor to drop out of the race to boost Orman’s chances.

Do you have any idea how stupid you’d have to be to believe that Claire McCaskill is backing Orman because she believes in his “independence”?

Orman would be no more independent for Kansas than McCaskill has been for Missouri.  Oh sure, she’s always spouting her independence, but when push comes to shove, she’s right there in line voting with Harry Reid.  Missouri overwhelming voted against Obamacare yet good ol cacklin Claire STILL refuses to honor the wishes of her constituents and fully supports shoving the whole stinking pile down our throats.

#4  40 painful seconds of Alison Lundergan Grimes refusing to say whether she voted for President Obama From the Washington Post:

Alison Lundergan Grimes (D), who is trying to unseat Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R) this fall, appeared before the Louisville Courier-Journal editorial board on Thursday to make her pitch for their endorsement. The life-long Democrat, whose father represented Kentucky for the party in the state House and who herself has been on the ballot in the state on the Democratic ticket, was asked a simple question. Did she vote for President Obama in 2008 and 2012?

And she didn’t answer. Repeatedly……..

……..Grimes tries to pivot off of the board’s question (for some reason!) by linking herself to Hillary Clinton. There’s not a lot of good data on Clinton’s approval in Kentucky, but at least the state voted for her husband twice. If you have to be a type of Democrat in Kentucky, be a “Clinton Democrat” as Grimes puts it. Fine.

But there was no reason to do this. Grimes is fairly new on the national scene, but she’s not new enough not to know how to answer this fairly simply.

I must disagree with the esteemed WaPo.  Grimes had EVERY reason to do what she did.  As every other Democrat running this year, she can’t tell the truth if she wants to get elected.  She tells the voters she’ll be independent while taking money from the very people who know she will vote lockstep with Barack Obama and Harry Reid.

Unfortunately, the political IQ of the average voter has sunk so low she and the rest of the liars have an outside chance of winning.

#3  Lincoln Nebraska school district turns “boys and girls” into purple penguins  From National Review:

A Nebraska school district has instructed its teachers to stop referring to students by “gendered expressions” such as “boys and girls,” and use “gender inclusive” ones such as “purple penguins” instead.

“Don’t use phrases such as ‘boys and girls,’ ‘you guys,’ ‘ladies and gentlemen,’ and similarly gendered expressions to get kids’ attention,” instructs a training document given to middle-school teachers at the Lincoln Public Schools.

“Create classroom names and then ask all of the ‘purple penguins’ to meet on the rug,” it advises.

It’s bad enough that we’ve let political correctness turn our schools into indoctrination centers filled with leftist loons,  but the fact that these idiots are imparting such asinine crap upon the most vulnerable among us – our children – is a fact that in a sane world would see them brought up on charges for child endangerment.

#2  Gwyneth Paltrow loses fight to save her last surviving brain cell  From the Hollywood Reporter:

The Democrats many not want President Barack Obama out on the campaign trial, but they’re happy to have him at a fundraiser, which brought him back to Los Angeles Thursday and into Gwyneth Paltrow’s backyard.

The actress introduced the President to a crowd of 200 supporters. She gushed: “You’re so handsome that I can’t speak properly.” Paltrow also described herself as one of Obama’s “biggest fans, if not the biggest.”

Paltrow, who was joined by her children, Apple and Moses, told the crowd: “It would be wonderful if we were able to give this man all of the power that he needs to pass the things that he needs to pass.” She cited sustainable energy efforts as well as Obama’s push for equal pay, which she called “Very important to me as a working mother.”

I don’t know what’s worse.  That Paltrow is, well Paltrow, or that she has two kids who will grow up to add more pee to the gene pool.

#1  Nebraska Democrat Stands By Work Defending Nazi War Criminal From the Washington Free Beacon:

Democratic Nebraska Senate candidate Dave Domina, in an interview with the Washington Free Beacon, stood by his work defending a former Nazi police officer stripped of his U.S. citizenship.

Domina, who is trailing Republican Ben Sasse, said he did not balk when John Kalymon hired him in 2006 to fight the U.S. government, which was seeking to deport the former German-occupation police officer for lying about his past.

“Mr. Kalymon lived an honorable life in the U.S.,” Domina said in an interview Wednesday.

Domina touts his work defending Kalymon, citing it on his law firm’s website.

“I am a person without biases against other people and in this instance, my own beloved grandchildren are Jewish people and their mother is a student of Jewish history and a professor of it,” said Domina, who is not Jewish. “I am a firm believer in the legal process and I believe that lawyers with gifts in that profession should share their gifts, and that’s what I did.”……….

……..“Ivan Kalymon was part and parcel of the Nazi machinery of persecution that ended the lives of more than 100,000 men, women, and children in L’viv,” Eli Rosenbaum, director of human rights enforcement strategy and policy for the Criminal Division’s Human Rights and Special Prosecution Section (HRSP), said in a statement at the time.

Domina, who helmed Kalymon’s defense, told the Free Beacon that while the Ukrainian immigrant had concealed his true identity while applying for U.S. citizenship, the evidence presented against him was unreliable………..

……………Asked if he has any qualms about defending a man accused of Nazi war crimes, Domina stood by his work.

“It has not been an issue. I’ve raised it and disclosed it when appropriate,” he said.

“I was involved on a professional level and did my best professionally for a person who, decades after these events, needed help,” Domina said. “I performed a professional service. … It was a service I rendered without making a judgment on a person.”

And that folks is how Dave Domina, without even realizing it, just identified all that is wrong with the Democrat party of today.

How he and his party so easily remove themselves from the obligation of having to determine right from wrong, to follow the rule of law, and to respect basic fundamental American values, is as hypocritical as it gets.

While there is no debate that if judicially assigned to a case, an attorney has every obligation to provide the best possible defense, I find no law requiring an attorney to willingly take a case.  Especially one representing a Nazi war criminal.  That Domina so proudly stands behind his decision shows just how broken the moral compass that guides him.

And Domina so easily dismissing the fact that Kalymon lied in the very beginning to gain his U.S. citizenship is both troubling and revealing.

For it’s that exact same moral relativism that allows left wing Democrats to demand that we now grant citizenship to millions of illegals whose very first act in America was to either enter the country illegally or overstay a visa.

If you don’t respect our sovereignty, you sure as hell won’t respect unearned citizenship when it’s just given to you.

As always, thanks for stopping by, have a great weekend and I’ll see ya round the Corner on Monday.

Thanks for today’s Follies. I was unaware of the Dem, defending the Nazi.
The problem is a great deal of voters today, do not know what a Nazi is, that is in true respect they do not know.

I truly believe that the majority of our societal problems today is that we now have two generations that have virtually no concept of this nation’s history, the sacrifices that have been made in their name, and the real dangers for the future if we keep letting the left march on unchallenged.
With the media’s help, the left has been able to have a perceived acceptance far higher than it’s actual representation of the populace. The latest Gallup poll STILL has only 20 percent of the country saying it’s liberal (and only 7 percent saying “very” liberal) yet the way the agenda gets played in the pop culture, the television shows, etc…it appears that it is the dominant political ideology. Just look at the success of the Daily Show. It has less than 2 million viewers out of 315 million population but because the establishment media love the liberal slant it’s “cool” factor is off the charts. I actually don’t even mind the “funny” side of it, what I hate is when the truth gets twisted and the audience viewing it doesn’t realize they are watching editorialized commentary slicked up with some video and instead take it as actual, factual “news”.
America is at a very dangerous time in her history. Never before have we had such a threat from within our own borders from so many. Too many have just kept letting the water warm up around them to the point where we’re almost boiling and what started over two centuries ago will be gone in a heartbeat.
Thanks for reading and I’ll see ya round the White House Dossier as well.
