From Reagan to Obama: Fitzwater’s recap vs McFeatter’s fantasies

February 7, 2016

For your perusing, the email that went out to subscribers this morning:

Good Sunday morning all. There are a couple of things this morning important enough to pass along via the email list. The first is the attachment. It’s dated February 6, 2016 and is identified as Marlin Fitzwater’s remarks from the Reagan Presidential Library on the President that he served. It is well worth your time.

The following 3 paragraphs comment on Mr. Fitzwater’s remarks:

So sad that to espouse the same views today makes us bigots, racists, islamaphobes and any other name the left can dream up for their little lemmings to latch onto. I opened the Globe this morning to see who Carol had matched me up against in the Op/Eds and was Ann McFeaters. A woman with a Tribune News service syndicated column. I won’t bore with with all the details but when I got down to the words below I just shook my head in disbelief.

How far we as a nation have sunk when someone of “journalistic” cred can write such delusional dreams of fantasy with not even an ounce of remorse that what she’s perpetuating is at best a narrative without factual context, at worst the brainwashing of yet another generation void of the ability to look behind the spin and find the truth.

The re-election of Obama showed us that the nightmare of waking up one day to find ourselves governed by ignorants has come to pass. 2016 will tell us if we can turn it back or if America is now no different than any other country. Laden with debt and filled with self-serving sloths who’s idea of responsibility and civic duty is to blame someone else for their problems and take the money from someone else to pay for it.

2nd up this morning is the Ann McFeatters – Campaign 2016: So far, (not) so good column in the February 7, 2016 print edition of the Joplin Globe editorial page 3D.

It is one of the most blatant attempts to elevate Barack Obama to Mt. Olympus status that I have ever seen.

If a nationally syndicated columnist who is supposed to KNOW something can attach her name to such outright misleading propaganda without rebuke than somebody needs to nominate Goebbels for posthumous entry into the “journalist” Hall of Fame. At least he was honest about what he was doing.

Below are excerpts from Ms. McFeatters novella on her hero. The quoted text are from the column. The bold is my response. Please feel free to copy and past the excerpt/response section and share with as many as you can. If we are to take this nation back from those who wish to turn this country into just another socialized European mess, the propaganda must be countered at every turn. And if by chance you think doing so is just too much, think upon what the Greatest Generation did for us. They literally died, they really sacrificed. All we have to do is promote the truth and VOTE.

Have a great Sunday,
“Except for the debate among the Democrats, this has been a remarkably substance-free campaign marked by denial of science, fear of people who seem different, ridicule of other candidates and hatred of the president.”…..

[Well played Ann. So now, skepticism of throwing trillions of U.S. Tax dollars down a United Nations shake down rat hole based upon questionable “science” is now “denial”.

And no one I know is afraid of “different people”. We are however damn angry that you and your party are hell bent on flooding our labor force with foreign workers that depress wages for legal American citizens and the social suicide of importing hundreds of thousands of adherents to a 7th century ideology of conquest, concubines and submit to Allah or die into an advanced, open and free society.

Your disdain for “ridicule of other candidates” is a little late to the party. Do a little reading of our history and you’ll see how such has been with us since our founding. If you’re going to run for high office in these United States “grow up or get out” is the operative phrase.

As for that “hatred”? Well perhaps if he hadn’t started day one acting like a King (How’s that closing Gitmo going?), shoving billions of taxpayer dollars to political cronies (remember that “stimulus” and “shovel ready jobs”?), and flat out lying (If you like your doctor you can keep your doctor?) any such “hatred” would be a little harder to find.
But when a President of the United States actively pushes policies antithetical to everything the American experience stands for and then eagerly demagogues anyone who opposes him, well yeh, those Americans who care about the future of this country are gonna hate whoever and whatever is trying to bring it down.]

….”Mistakes have been made; opportunities have been lost. But our country is doing remarkably well eight years after a terrible recession, especially compared with the rest of the world and the undeniable fact that Republicans in Congress vowed not to work with a Democrat in the White House.

[No Ann, they just realized that working with a Frank Marshall Davis mentored, Saul Alinsky devoted left wing ideologue was an exercise in futility.]

Unemployment is down from 10 percent to five percent. We have just experienced two years of the strongest job growth since the 1990s. The United States is close to energy independence.

[Use the more truthful BLS U6 number instead of the politically convenient U3 and you’re back up to real unemployment in the double digits.

And that “job growth”? I suggest you take a look at how many of those “jobs” were hotel/motel, bartender/restaurant, part time vs full time and filled by foreign workers instead of American citizens.

If you’re poster boy President wasn’t holding us back, the United States would have already achieved energy independence. What we have accomplished in the past 7 years we have accomplished IN SPITE of him, not because of him.]

More Americans than ever before have health insurance. We are no longer engaged in two debilitating wars. We have resisted extremists demanding our men and women die in new wars. Our national existence is not threatened.

[For the umpteenth time: Health insurance is NOT healthcare. And when you realize the majority of the administrations “health insurance” claim is expansion of an already failed system (Medicaid) and the federal government mandating people to buy $5 and $6 thousand dollar deductible polices that they can’t afford to use after they pay for the exorbitant premiums.
As for the wars. Might want to crawl out from under your rock. The world is aflame and more unstable today since at any time since the end of WWII. Just because your hero prematurely pulled us out of critical, strategic areas does not mean that our enemies are still not at war with us and if present inaction is any indication it will be up to the next President to begin to repair the devastation Obama’s ideological war on common sense has wrought upon current and future generations.]

America can and must be better, but we should rejoice in “our optimism and work ethic, our spirit of discovery, our diversity, our commitment to rule of law – these things give us everything we need to ensure prosperity and security for generations to come,” to quote Obama’s words just a few weeks ago. Yes, that president. For one more year, while we figure out what we want.”

[No argument on your “America can and must be better” but when it is the left’s perverse dedication to diversity at all costs and a complete abandonment to the rule of law (see Sanctuary cities, executive actions on illegal immigrants, Border Patrol stand down orders, giving Iran billions without submitting as a treaty, EPA power grabs that would make Stalin proud, etc…etc…etc…) myself and millions of other Americans will do everything within our power to stop such madness.

And as for that “one more year” of Obama we have left? God help us.]
