Bad Cow, Bad Sow Follow-Up

It appears that stupidity does not reign unique to Poland and the currently convened U.N. conference on climate change being held in Poznan. So as not to be left out of the “where do they get these idiots” category, our very own Environmental Protection Agency is putting forth proposed regulations to charge fees for air-polluting animals.

Under the proposed regulations operations with over 200 hogs would have to pay $20 per hog, over 50 beef cattle $87.50 per head and over 25 dairy cows $175 per head. (The methodolgy used to determine that beef cattle should be charge only 1/2 of dairy cattle is not explained. But considering the lunacy of the regulations in their own right I’m quite certain said methodology would leave even Stephen Hawking wondering, huh?)

Nick Butterfield, EPA spokesman, said the fees target operations that emit more then 100 tons of carbon emissions a year and fall under provisions of The Clean Air Act. And our dear friends at P.E.T.A. can’t wait. Spokesman Bruce Friderich states: “It makes perfect sense if you are looking for ways to cut down on meat consumption and recoup environmental losses.”

Yes, these regs make perfect sense. Perfect sense that is if we’ve all fallen down the hole with Alice. U.S. Rep. Robert Aderholt says he has spoken to EPA officials and doesn’t believe the cow tax is a serious proposal or that it will never be adopted.

Ok, fine on the “not serious” and “never adopted’. But what about the fact that our tax dollars went to pay the salaries of the idiots who thought them up in the first place? In these ever worsening financial times couldn’t we at least loan them out to Saturday Night Live where they belong…..writing bad comedy for bad actors? (recent once in a decade election skits excluded)

Just to prove I’m not making this up here’s the link to the AP article:
