Friday Follies: Obama’s Zoo, DeBlasio’s Crazy, Warmers’ ‘Ice-capades’, NFL pro gay punter booted?

January 3, 2014

Yep, it’s Friday and that means Follies:

Tis that time once again when we take stock of the inane and foolish put upon us by those forced to navigate life with an amount of gray matter just slightly larger than that found in your average toad.”

#5  Ex-NFL punter blames supporting gay marriage for HIS failiure

From the Daily Mail article:

Ex-Minnesota Vikings punter Chris Kluwe has said he is ‘pretty confident’ that he was cut from the team last May for being an out-spoken advocate for same-sex marriage.

Kluwe, you need to GET A CLUE. It’s FOOTBALL and it runs on testosterone not sensitivity. Now go volunteer at a punt, pass and kick picnic and leave your politics out of the NFL.

#4  Weather Channel’s Winter Storm Names

As of this posting, The Drudge Report screams “Hercules Punches Northeast”. Which provided an immediate candidate for this week’s Follies: The idiots at the Weather Channel who decided to continue pushing their idiocy upon us with their determination to assign names to what we used to call blizzards, NorEasters, and just plain old snow storms.

Other than getting some free publicity for the channel and irritating curmudgeons like me can anyone come up with one good reason for such nonsense?

Earth to the Weather Channel: It’s not “Hercules” it’s a STORM FRONT.

#3  Media coverage of global warming parishoners trapped by ice they say is shrinking

Mike Ciandella over at NewsBusters reminds us once again of the complete hypocrisy of the main stream “media” with his story showing that almost 98% of the stories on the Russian Ship trapped by Antarctic sea ice was on a global warming pilgrimage:

Chris Turney, the expedition’s leader, is a professor of climate change at the University of South Wales. According to Turney’s personal website, the purpose of the expedition is to “discover and communicate the environmental changes taking place in the south.”

#2  Bill de Blasio putting horses over humans

There are not enough words in the universe to describe the abject idiocy of the voters of New York City to put avowed communist and socialist Bill de Blasio into Gracie Mansion and he didn’t waste any time proving it.

Eric Owens over at the Daily Caller points out:

Two issues high on de Blasio’s agenda are the creation of more abortion clinics across the five boroughs and an outright ban on horse-drawn carriage rides in Central Park.

Yep, that’s the America I know and love. Save the horses, kill the babies.

We truly have “met the enemy and he is us”. Pogo never new how prophetic he was.

#1  Obama’s vacation “Family Time”

The number one this week was determined just minutes before posting. Daniel Halper over at the Weekly Standard put up a pool report post on Obama’s “Family Time” in Hawaii:

President Obama’s motorcade made its way to Honolulu, passing by stunning vistas while occasionally being slowed by congested roads. After a 30-minute drive, Obama and daughters Sasha and Malia arrived at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific at Puowaina Punchbowl Crater.

Obama’s grandfather, Stanley Dunham, is interred at the cemetery.

The president was not visible to the pool during a short visit.

Four minutes after arriving, Obama and his daughters were back in the motorcade. The next destination is unknown.

After departing the graveyard, Obama took his daughters to the zoo:

President Obama’s motorcade made its way through the streets of Honolulu, arriving at 5:08 p.m. at the Honolulu Zoo.

The president, Malia and Sasha should have the zoo to themselves, as it closes at 4:30 p.m.

The zoo sits just off the coast, not far from Diamond Head crater and a short walk from bustling Waikiki Beach.

The pool is now holding in the van and will not be seeing the zoo or the president.

A couple thoughts:

  1. Too bad Obama couldn’t find time for the 20 minute drive to take his daughter’s to another grave site. One where the girls might actually learn a little something about the country that has treated their Daddy to far, far more than he deserves, the USS Arizona memorial.
  2. So the press pool sits in a van awaiting the exit of the King from his private tour of the zoo. THAT’s priceless.

As always, have a great weekend all and I’ll see ya round the Corner.
