Friday Follies: Washington Post op/ed page apoplectic over Giuliani “racist” Obama comments

February 20, 2015

The uber-liberal Washington Post editorial page is having a fit over former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani’s comments regarding President Obama’s love of country. Yep it’s Friday, it’s Follies and Tis that time once again when we take stock of the inane and foolish put upon us by those forced to navigate life with an amount of gray matter just slightly larger than that found in your average toad.

This week’s Follies is wholly dedicated to the Washington Post. That grand ol paper of Woodward and Bernstein that brought down a Presidency. That once proud scion of American journalism.

Once, being the key word as what let loose on it’s opinion pages this Friday is anything but journalism. True, opinion pages are just that, opinions. But when those opinions are so tainted, so devoid of actual fact, so hypocritical in their utterances, well, let’s just say Herr Goebbels’s would be proud of the op/ed board today.

The hypocrisy coming out of WaPo today is glaring brighter than 42nd and Broadway as it screeches against former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani for saying that he just didn’t think Obama loved America the way he or many other Americans do is to be expected but that doesn’t make it any less disgusting.

Dana Milbank fired the first salvo claiming that since Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker did not disavow Giuliani’s comments immediately and forcefully said Governor should now be disqualified as a “serious presidential contender”.

Not to be outdone, the Post’s editorial board went so far as to imply Walker was a coward and “has proved himself incapable of saying basic truths that might offend some of his potential voters”.

And what would a left wing pile on be without the speechwriter, MSNBC hack posing as a journalist Jonathan Capehart playing the race card? In an as intellectually dishonest as it can get stunt on PostTv, JC goes all Al Sharpton and inserts race into a situation that has nothing to do with race.

From the Post introduction to the video:

Former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani caused a firestorm of controversy this week when he questioned Obama’s patriotism, saying he does not believe Obama ‘loves America.’ Opinions writer Jonathan Capehart explains the hypocrisy behind the response to Giuliani’s remarks.

Now, a reasonable person reading those words above might think then that the video to follow would actually address hypocrisy. What said person gets instead is a thin skinned attack obviously cobbled together in haste in a shameful attempt to make sure any debate as to the real meaning behind Giuliani’s remarks be shut down as quickly as possible. Else, GASP even more American people than already do might start to take a serious look at Obama’s formative years, his college years, and his political beginnings. Those same people then might use that information and apply it to Obama as President and begin to see a pattern in his policies.

I have transcribed the video below. Capehart’s words are in blue (I would have used the default type color black but I’ve got enough left wing lug nuts out there saying I’m racist. Yes, you know who you are, and that was a J O K E!) and Corner responses are in appropriate conservative red.

Quote: At a dinner in New York City on Wednesday, former mayor Rudy Giuliani questioned President Obama’s patriotism:, quote “I do not believe that the president loves America….He wasn’t brought up the way you were brought up and I was brought up through love of this country” When Giuliani was called out on his racist othering of the President, he not only refused to apologize he compounded the offense.

Whoa…….hold on there Mr. “I’m an opinion writer at a big city newspaper so I can say anything I want without that anything having anything to do with fact”. Please, do tell, just where in the hell in any of that Giuliani quote does the President’s race even get mentioned?

The truth is it doesn’t. The truth is, race has nothing to do with it. The “othering” of the President is not about his race, it is all about his formative years and the people and forces that influenced him.

How many Americans started off in the 60’s with a father of one country and a mother of another, then saw his mother re-marry and move to Indonesia, then divorce and move to Hawaii where the mentoring in between shooting hoops and running with the choom gang was done by the likes of avowed communist Frank Marshall Davis?

Obama could be a blue eyed, blond haired specimen of 100% pure Aryan Nation stock and his first 18 years of life on this planet would still put him far outside the upbringing of 99.9 percent of the rest of Americans of the time.

He told the New York Times on Thursday quote “Some people thought it was racist – I thought that was a joke, since he was brought up by a white mother, a white grand father, went to white schools, and most of this he learned from white people.” This is a stunningly superficial defense, a twist on the classic, “Some of my best friends are _________” pass that is always claimed and never offered that is as obnoxious as it is loathsome.

Hmmmmm. So the race card gets played on Giuliani, he responds by pointing out the mixed race aspect of a non race issue and yet that somehow is akin to “some of my best friends” excuse?

I’ve gone back and read every word of Giuliani’s statements and nowhere did race come into play until you, Mr. Capehart, and others inserted it. And then after race IS inserted, it is somehow Giuliani’s fault for not answering according to your preconceived biases?

I realize journalistic integrity is an oxymoron with you and yours but please, at least wear a fig leaf when you embark on such charades. Know it or not, you truly are embarrassing yourself, standing there, bare naked behind your glass wall of liberal elitism.

You know back in the day if any one black, anywhere in the country said anything remotely close to what Giuliani said this week there would be demands on black elected officials to condemn the remarks. Hell, Obama had to deliver an entire speech on race because his former pastor said quote “God damn America” in a sermon where Obama wasn’t even present. That no Republican of any stature feels compelled or feels the need to forcefully condemn Giuliani for his outrageous remarks is disgraceful. I’m Jonathan Capehart, opinion writer for the Washington Post.

Nice straw-man argument pulling out Jeremiah Wright. Is this the same Jeremiah Wright that Obama wouldn’t let stand with him when he announced his candidacy? The same Jeremiah Wright that Obama himself through under the bus rather defend the man who married him? The same Jeremiah Wright that conveniently “retired” into a very comfortable house and lifestyle?

Obama didn’t have to make a speech about race because of Jeremiah Wright, he made a speech about race because his political handlers knew you and the rest of the Obama press corps would tout it as some grand awakening and put it up there with the Gettysburg address and Kennedy’s inaugural.

And perhaps the outrage hasn’t been to your liking, because unlike you and the rest of your fellow lefty lug nuts, the majority of America does NOT see race in every aspect of life.

Though I know you just can’t bring yourself to believe it, there are tens of millions of us who are truly disgusted at Barack Obama and it has not one thing to do with the color of his skin.

It does however have everything to do with the way he looks at the world and the way in which he treats this country.

For six years now we have watched as one policy after another has been forced down our throats against our wishes.

For year after year we have watched as one investigation after another into any of many scandals has been stonewalled.

Time after time we have seen our elected representatives represent us only to have Obama bypass Congress via executive fiat to impose the “fundamental transformation” that could not be achieved otherwise.

And for longer than we should have ever had to endure we have watched an American President show he is more concerned with tee times and campaign schedules than our national security.

So no, Mr. Capehart, I do not find it disgraceful that more Republican’s aren’t jumping on your media hype bandwagon. In fact, I find an inkling of hope that maybe, just maybe the time has finally come when disingenuous “journalists” falsely playing the race card against anyone that dares criticize their Dear Leader no longer sends the critics running in fear, but instead stiffens their spines to shout back: “Dammit, enough is enough”.

The plain and simple truth about Barack Obama is that if it wasn’t for the color of his skin he would still to this day be nothing more than a back bencher wannabe in national politics.

Prior to his 2008 historic election his qualifications were:

  1. Read a teleprompter at the 2004 Democratic national convention.
  2. The beneficiary of his 2004 U.S. Senate race opponent’s divorce custody records being leaked to the press
  3. Serving two years in the United States Senate before embarking on his campaign for the Presidency

Can anyone in the liberal media produce a white male candidate with such a thin resume that it has rallied behind?

It was none other than Joe Biden himself on the very day that he was filing his own paperwork to run for President back in 2007 that said it first: “I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy. I mean, that’s a storybook, man.” Biden later apologized but the “story” was already unfolding and the rest as they say is history.

In the end, the Democrat party determined that electing the first black president was a bigger prize than electing the first woman president and thus came about their 2008 nominee and ultimately the 44th President of these United States.

And before all you lefties take to the web calling for my head, there’s this morsel of reality from the October 30th 2008 Charlie Rose Show where he and Tom Brokaw had this exchange:

ROSE: I don’t know what Barack Obama’s worldview is.

BROKAW: No, I don’t, either.

ROSE: I don’t know how he really sees where China is.

BROKAW: We don’t know a lot about Barack Obama and the universe of his thinking about foreign policy.

ROSE: I don’t really know. And do we know anything about the people who are advising him?

BROKAW: Yeah, it’s an interesting question.

ROSE: He is principally known through his autobiography and through very aspirational (sic) speeches.

BROKAW: Two of them. I don’t know what books he’s read.

ROSE: What do we know about the heroes of Barack Obama?

BROKAW: There’s a lot about him we don’t know.

Applying Capehart and crew logic, Brokaw and Rose discussing the people around Obama and who his heroes were was an obvious racial attack. How dare they. Surely they would not have dared such an exchange about a white candidate for the Presidency.

I don’t recall Capehart, WaPo or anyone else in the left wing media calling on Obama to apologize for this rant against then President Bush in 2008:

The problem is, is that the way Bush has done it over the last eight years is to take out a credit card from the Bank of China in the name of our children, driving up our national debt from $5 trillion for the first 42 presidents – #43 added $4 trillion by his lonesome, so that we now have over $9 trillion of debt that we are going to have to pay back — $30,000 for every man, woman and child. That’s irresponsible. It’s unpatriotic.

I actually agreed with Obama on that point. It was unpatriotic for Bush at $4 trillion and it’s down right un-American at Obama’s $8 trillion additional and counting.

And where was the self-righteous press when their great leader was bashing millions of Americans for “clinging to guns or religion”? I’ll tell you where they were. They were in their newsrooms high fiving each other until their hands were blistered over Obama letting loose on all those rubes and hayseeds blocking their progressive agenda.

The hypocrisy of the left when it comes to Barack Obama is of a level I have never witnessed in all my years. The obsession with blaming any and all criticism of Obama on racism belies the truth behind the fact that without race his entire candidacy would have ended before it ever began.

When I criticize Obama, it has nothing to do with the color of his skin. It does however have everything to do with his actions that illustrate a complete lack of character, his unwillingness to follow the Constitution and the rule of law, and a behavior that on many more than one occasion has disrespected the office to which he was elected.

A left wing Alinsky-ite radical hollowing out America from within while undermining her abroad is not going to get my acceptance no matter what his/her skin color may be.

And once and for all, it’s long past time to drop the “you don’t have to like the man but you have to respect the office” diversion.

The very reason so many Americans are so adamant and so vocal in their opposition to Mr. Obama is exactly because of his disrespect for the office.

Granting an interview to a green lipsticked fill a bathtub with milk and go bobbing for Fruit Loops You Tube idiot just one of his latest.Heading off to the golf course minutes after announcing the beheading of James Foley and jetting off to Las Vegas the day after 4 Americans were killed in the terrorist attack in Benghazi two of his lowest.

And constantly interjecting himself into local law enforcement issues while at the same time abdicating his responsibility as Commander in Chief being simultaneously disgusting and dangerous.

The list of Mr. Obama’s slights to this nation is already longer than any President before him and the damage from his tenure will reverberate long past his time in office.

And that’s not racist, that’s just plain and simple truth. Period. Full Stop.

As always, thanks for stopping by, have a great weekend and I’ll see ya round the Corner.
