Carly Fiorina counters Whoopi Goldberg’s The View arrogance with facts

June 17, 2015

User Jillian Seagal uploaded the video to the left of Carly appearing on The View.  Her description says a lot:  June 16, 2015 – Carly Fiorina is proving that she can go into the ‘lion’s den’ and come out without a scratch. Today she visited ‘The View’, which is really more like feral cats than lions, but did very well, even when the topic became about abortion. I watched the whole thing and was impressed at the skill she used keep them at bay.

BizPacReview noted:

Carly Fiorina has been scoring high marks lately for how she’s handled media interviews since announcing her run for president – and her appearance Tuesday on “The View” was just as impressive.

And on a show targeted to liberal women, and run by liberal women, that wasn’t easy.

Whoopi Goldberg kicked things off by pretty obviously trying to make Fiorina look the fool by equating her potential candidacy with a popular TV show.

“You said, if elected, you want to run your administration like American Idol,” Goldberg asked in the first series of loaded questions. “What does that mean exactly?”

But Fiorina wasn’t going to be the butt of Goldberg’s joke.

“I actually didn’t say that,” she said.

Fiorina clarified that she was referring to the use of technology to engage with the American people when she had made the American Idol reference – and quickly turned the discussion around.

“I’d ask the American people questions,” she said for example. “Do you think it’s OK that we have no idea where our money is being spent in the federal government?”

Julia Porterfield, an intern over at National Review had these words:

When it came time for Goldberg to address Fiorina, the vocal Planned Parenthood supporter wanted to know how it would be possible for a pro-life woman like Fiorina to represent the entire American population. “Are you going to run as a person who’s going to govern for everyone, or are you running on your Christian beliefs?” Goldberg asked. “Because you said some wonderful things and it made me beg the question . . . if you feel that women should have the choices . . . why do you think choice is not a good thing?”
Not missing a beat, Fiorina responded, “Abortion is obviously a very delicate subject. I happen to believe that science is proving us right. The DNA in a zygote is the same as the DNA the day you die, we do have common ground on this issue now.”
“The majority of women, the majority of young people, the majority of Americans now think that late-term abortion for any reason at all is a problem,” Fiorina continued. “So what I say is, let’s go find that common ground.”
The predominantly liberal group of co-hosts looked mystified at Fiorina’s quick, educated response. Goldberg began stumbling over herself in an attempt to rebut Fiorina’s defense of life, but was cut off when her fellow hosts began wrapping up the segment.

Goldberg’s arrogance is what gets me.  There are tens of millions of pro-life women in America and she and her Hillary-Emily’s List crowd have no problem supporting women candidates that don’t have that view and yet they are never asked: “How can you govern for everyone when you hold views that millions don’t”?
Yes, it’s the age old issue with liberals, “our view is the correct view ” and it’s never going away, but that doesn’t mean it’s any less irritating.
